First Day of School

Today was Blake's first day of Pre-Kindergarten and Ryan's first day of Preschool. They were such big boys getting ready this morning. I was so proud of both of them. I can't believe I have two kids in school already...they are growing up way too quickly!

Our Beloved Central Coast

The family just got back from a wonderful trip to the Central Coast. It truly is our home away from home! Every time we go back, the harder it is to leave! We had a very busy five days and managed to make it to all of our favorite spots...Montana de Oro, Avila Pier, Avila Valley Farm, Grover Beach dunes, San Luis, Cypress Ridge, and Cambria.

We stayed for the very last time in the Bungalow. I can't tell you how sad I am to see that dear old place go! Talk about wonderful memories! My Uncle Denis (whom by the way is the best uncle a girl could have) let me stay there when I first moved to the Central Coast...what a once in a lifetime opportunity. One 19 year old girl on 400+ acres of an old dairy farm soon to be golf course. What a lucky (not to mention brave) girl! Anyways, Patrick and I really are going to miss the Bungalow (thank you Auntie Lulu and Uncle Denis) for our Central Coast getaway.

Unfortunately, Denis and Leona were on a month long road trip, so we didn't get to see them. We did get to see Patrick's sisters and their families. Laura just had her fourth child...a precious little girl they named, Sophia Rose. Between the three families we had eight kids to enjoy and entertain us...Brooks (16), Bailey (13), Olivia (5), Blake (4), Ryan (2 1/2), Ava (2), Evan (1), and Sophia (3 weeks). What a special treat for us to see all of the cousins together!

The Bone Yard

Today we drove past a cemetary. As we passed by Blake told us that it was a bone yard. I don't know where he got that from, but we said okay. He proceeded to tell us that people are buried there and that there bodies stay in the ground, but their spirits go up to heaven. We were pretty impressed...he then began to giggle and tell us that it would be funny if our bodies went to heaven and our spirits stayed because then the earth would be full of ghosts! Clever boy...what will he think of next?

Dinosaur Naming By: Blake Forrest age 4

So I showed Blake and Ryan our website today. I told them it is a place for us to write about things we do and fun stories about our family. At dinner tonight Blake asked if he could tell a story about Mammoth's and dinosaurs on our website. Below are his exact words....

Jacqueline just found out that mammoth's are elephant's cousins. Dinosaurs are extinct and these were the dinosaurs that lived millions of years ago. These are all of the names the dinosaurs were called...there were flat mouths and two horns and rhinasosaurus' and there were tyranasaurus rex and there were small dinosaurs and there were club tails and there were hatasauruses and stegasaurus and triceratops and there were little types of lizards and there were small mammals. Here are all of the flying dinosaurs...there were flying reptiles and they were called terasaurs and there were also small flying dinosaurs with big frills on their heads and here are the ocean living animals... there were small looking dolphins but they were not dolphins called ichthyosaurs. The next dinosaur in the ocean..this dinosaur was very big, just like long necks, but they had flippers and a very long neck, they are called plesiosaurus. There is another ocean dinosaur, it was very big and it had very sharp teeth, and it ate the small looking dolphins, it is called pliosaur. And there were small snails called ammonites, they had a shell, but on the shell was an eye, on the other side there was another eye and there were tentacles. Every dinosaur is extinct, even the ones in the ocean. Paleontologists found all of these bones in hard rock mountains. Blake wants to be a paleontologist when he grows up! And that's all I want to say. (Now let's read what I wrote)

This entire paragraph was written entirely by Blake (forgive my spelling on the dinosaur names). I think it is really funny that Blake referred to me as Jacqueline (not mom) and himself as Blake. I hope you enjoyed our entry!

So today Blake informed me that he knew how God made our fingernails....magic powder and dust. Of course!
